Someone got the bright idea that if they created a female equivalent of Clint Eastwood’s Dirty Harry it would be a hit. Did it work? Jamie Rose starred as a carrot-topped Chicago detective chasing drug dealers with Dirty Harry’s .45 Magnum. It was a pilot for a very brief TV series that didn’t quite catch on and had some violence that was pretty unusual for mid-1980s television.
“There was a little bit of a precedence for that type of character, but not as bloodthirsty,” laughs Rose about her character. “They called her ‘Dirty Harriet’. It had the most action and violence of any show on television at the time. It was really panned for that reason. Of course, it’s nothing compared to what you see now.”
The series featured Danny Aiello, Bibi Besch, Jim Brown, Tony Lobianco and Katy Jurado.
