Before Sting and The Ultimate Warrior became two of the biggest stars of the late ’80s and early ’90s, they were known as The Blade Runners—a raw, athletic powerhouse tag team making their way through Bill Watts’ UWF.
In this rare match from May 9, 1986, they take on one of the toughest combinations in professional wrestling: “Dr. Death” Steve Williams and the “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase. At this point, Williams and DiBiase were among the premier tag teams in the UWF, while the Blade Runners were still learning the craft and showing flashes of the potential that would eventually make both men household names.
It’s a fascinating time capsule featuring four future legends at very different stages of their careers. If you’ve never seen Sting and Warrior before the face paint, the championships, and the superstardom, this is a great look at where it all began.
