Meg Elizabeth Donnelly (born July 25, 2000) is an American actress and singer. She is best known for her role as Taylor Otto on the ABC sitcom American Housewife (2016–2021), for starring as Addison Wells in Disney Channel’s Zombiesfilm series (2018–present), and for portraying Mary Campbell on the CW television series The Winchesters (2022–2023).
Early life
Donnelly was born in New York City and raised in Peapack-Gladstone, New Jersey. She is an only child. She began training in voice, dance, and acting at the Annie’s Playhouse School of Performing Arts in Far Hills, New Jersey, at the age of six. As a child performer, she appeared as a featured vocalist in several stage productions associated with Kids of the Arts, Broadway Kids, and Time To Shine in New York City.
While attending high school in New York, Donnelly began studying Japanese in order to better communicate with Japanese exchange students, later releasing one of her singles in the language.
Career
Donnelly began her on-screen career in 2013, co-starring as Ash in the Netflix series Team Toon. She later became the American face of a national Clean & Clear campaign in 2015 and served as an understudy for the role of Louisa von Trapp in The Sound of Music Live!, the NBC televised musical event. That same year, she starred in the Nickelodeon pilot Future Shock, which was not picked up to series.
Her breakout role came in 2016 when she was cast as Taylor Otto on the ABC sitcom American Housewife. She replaced the actress who appeared in the pilot and remained on the show for its entire five-season run. Critics frequently cited the role as her breakthrough performance. During this period, she also appeared in the independent drama The Broken Ones, which premiered at the SOHO International Film Festival.
In 2018, Donnelly starred as Addison in the Disney Channel Original Movie Zombies, a musical film that became a major success for the network. She reprised the role in multiple sequels, including Zombies 2, Zombies 3, and Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires. Following the success of the first film, she released her debut single, “Smile,” later followed by “Digital Love.”
In 2022, Donnelly joined the cast of The Winchesters, a prequel to Supernatural, playing Mary Campbell, the future mother of Dean and Sam Winchester. The series ran for one season. That same year, she appeared in a recurring role on High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.
Expanding into voice acting, Donnelly voiced Kara Zor-El, also known as Supergirl, in the animated film Legion of Super-Heroes in 2023, later reprising the role in the Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths trilogy. She was later named as a finalist for the live-action role of Supergirl in a feature film, though the role ultimately went to another actress.
In 2025, Donnelly competed on season thirteen of The Masked Singer under the identity “Coral,” finishing in third place and becoming the youngest finalist in the show’s history at the time. Following her appearance, she announced and released her extended play Dying Art. Later that year, it was announced that she would make her Broadway debut as Satine in Moulin Rouge! The Musical, with performances scheduled from November 2025 through March 2026.
