Born: Maria Alejandra Delfino, March 20, 1981 (Age 44), Caracas, Venezuela
Occupation: Actress, Singer
Years Active: 1996–present

Majandra Delfino is a Venezuelan-American actress and singer, best known for her role as Maria DeLuca on the sci-fi TV series Roswell. She has also appeared as Andi in the CBS sitcom Friends with Better Lives. Additionally, she has pursued a career in music, releasing several albums and songs.

Early Life

Delfino was born in Caracas, Venezuela to an Italian Venezuelan father, Enrique Delfino, and a Cuban mother, Mary Hellmund. She lived in Caracas and Miami, Florida during her childhood before moving to Los Angeles as a teenager to pursue her acting career.

Career

Acting Career

Delfino’s acting career began when she was cast in MGM’s Zeus & Roxanne. Her breakthrough came when she was chosen to play Tina Dimeo on The Tony Danza Show, where she portrayed Danza’s teenage daughter. Following that, she was cast as Maria DeLuca on the popular WB series Roswell (1999-2002), which helped cement her status as a talented young actress.

She also appeared in Traffic (2000) and Reeseville, and acted in several television shows, including Celeste in the City, R.S.V.P., and State’s Evidence. Delfino starred in several episodes of the NBC series Quarterlife (2007), which was later aired on MySpaceTV. In 2011, she played Georgia Chamberlain in the short-lived State of Georgia, a show that co-starred Raven-Symoné.

She was also cast in the pilot for The Family Trap starring Mandy Moore and Stockard Channing, but due to her pregnancy, her scenes were shot around her condition. Delfino’s pregnancy was later written into the storylines of Friends with Better Lives (2014), where she starred as Kate.

In 2013, she was cast as Fanny Schrute (Dwight Schrute’s sister) in the failed NBC spin-off The Farm from The Office.

Music Career

Delfino has always been passionate about music. While on Roswell, she showcased her vocal talents in several episodes, including “Viva Las Vegas,” “Cry Your Name,” and “Behind the Music.” In 2000, she released three songs, including “Siren,” “Bruises,” and “Tattoo” online.

Her debut EP, The Sicks, was released in 2001 through her own label, Dripfeed, without significant radio or television promotion. In 2007, Delfino released her first full-length album, Tarte, on her own record company, Red Velvet Cake Records.

Delfino hinted at working on her third studio album in 2011, although it has yet to be released.

Personal Life

Majandra Delfino married actor David Walton on March 18, 2011, in Miami. The couple has two children: a daughter, born in 2012, and a son, born in 2013.

Discography

  • The Sicks (EP) (2001) – Dripfeed

  • Le Prince Bleu D’Arthelius (2003) – CD single duet with RoBERT

Delfino’s blend of acting and music continues to define her career, and her ongoing work in both areas has made her a respected figure in Hollywood and beyond.
