Denice Duff is an American actress, director, and photographer best known for her role as Michelle Morgan in Full Moon Entertainment’s Subspecies horror film series and as Amanda Browning on the long-running soap opera The Young and the Restless.
Career
Duff was discovered during a Hollywood Talent Search contest by veteran manager Jay Bernstein. At the time, she was working as an office intern for the contest and was encouraged by the judges to audition herself. Out of roughly two thousand actresses who tried out, she was the only one selected by Bernstein for representation.
Signed to the William Morris Agency, Duff quickly began working in television. Her first guest-starring role was on Northern Exposure, followed by appearances on series such as Silk Stalkings, Reasonable Doubts, Matlock, Danger Theatre, Dream On, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless, where she portrayed Amanda Browning.
She also appeared in several television movies, including Double Jeopardy, co-starring Bruce Boxleitner and Rachel Ward, and Invasion, based on a novel by Robin Cook, alongside Rebecca Gayheart and Luke Perry. In 2001, Duff starred in the horror film Vampire Resurrection.
Duff became a familiar face in genre cinema through her work in low-budget and cult films such as Bloodfist V: Human Target, Hell Comes to Frogtown II, and Phoenix. She is particularly associated with Full Moon Entertainment, starring in Subspecies II, Subspecies III, and Subspecies IV, where her performance helped cement the series’ enduring cult following.
In addition to film and television, Duff appeared in several nationally broadcast commercials, including a widely recognized Fruit of the Loom campaign in which she played a carefree young woman dancing around her bedroom before collapsing into a chair wearing only the brand’s underwear.
Beyond acting, Duff expanded into visual arts by converting her garage into a photography studio. What began as test shoots with friends evolved into a professional career, and she has since photographed hundreds of actors, musicians, and artists. Her work behind the camera became a significant parallel pursuit alongside her screen career.
In 2015, Duff returned to daytime television with a recurring role as Wendy, a midwife, on Days of Our Lives.
Personal Life
Denice Duff is married to musician Michael Duff, a singer and guitarist for the band Chalk Farm. They have one daughter, Paris Helena Duff, who works as a fashion photographer and model.
